Toonpool - 70 HOUR PITCH

Dear artist,

the toonpool.com team wants to invite you to a quick 70 HOUR PITCH. The subject is HEINRICH VON KLEIST, a popular yet mysterious writer and poet of the Romanticism age. On coming Monday, Kleist's spectacular suicide at the age of 34 will be 200 years ago.

Born 1777 in the pre-Napoleonic Prussia, he attended military service, then gave it up along with his engagement to a wealthy daughter to seek the writer's loneliness. He never achieved the success of the fellows of his time, Goethe and Schiller, which made Kleist an ambiguous and Kafkaesque hero for subsequent generations. His novels became popular one century after his death, beloved by German teachers to annoy their pupils until today.

There are only 3(!) committed portraits of Heinrich von Kleist of his era and a lot of space for new ones! We'd like to invite you to make a portrait/caricature of Heinrich von Kleist or a funny cartoon, a sad collage, anything you'd like. Just upload it to www.toonpool.com and give it the keyword "kleist" (or "heinrich von kleist", if you want to). All submissions will be seen here: http://www.toonpool.com/collection?page=gallery&cid=1431.

The DEADLINE is set to SUNDAY, November 20th, 2011 at 5 PM CET

This is the very moment when juror Günther Emig, director of the Kleist Archives Sembdner in Heilbronn will start to search for his 3 favorites. These 3 favorites will be presented on toonpool.com on Monday. The reward is fame only this time. Just for fun.

Best regards,
the toonpool.com Team
